Services and System Integration, Turnkey Operations
We provide many different types of services, all of them related in some
key manner, in areas that could and can be treated as quite separate
(for example, a business telephone system, separate, that can stand on
its own). But here you have our service areas: Communication.
Telephones. Security. Controls. Networks, etc.. What do networks have to
do with security? Everything. What does security have to do with
controls? Everything. What do alarms or closed circuit television
systems have to with telephones or telecommunications, or networks?
Everything. Or access control, what could this possibly have to do with
networks, whether and how computers are tied together? Again,
everything.
If these services appear to be quite
separate it is because they can be, but the closer that you look at our
service areas, the more they come together, mix, or meld - certainly
they butt up against one another so very closely. And if a customer sees
them in that separate and distinct way, if they are only interested in a
telephone system or solely interested in a security system, that is how
we serve them. But life has changed and technology has changed and it
continues to accelerate, and integration of systems becomes more and
more of a reality every single day. And part of our responsibility as a
major service company providing simple to complex electronic systems is
to help to lead the way into the most efficient and benefit-providing
applications, installations, services.
Integration? Systems working together, sharing resources or components,
having common elements. Integrated, not separate. And many people are
already very aware of this drive toward integration because of the many
benefits - it delivers so much value, it solves so many different
problems, it is efficient, it eliminates duplication, it saves time and
money.
For example, a company or organization with more
than one location or facility decides to install card access control
systems for its branches. This means that employees can carry cards
instead of all the hassles and problems with keys and key systems. You
slide your card through the card reader and the door unlocks, and on a
computer or a controller inside the facility the time is recorded and
who it is, etc.- with other systems all you have to is have the card
with you and walk past the reader. If the employee leaves employment,
someone deletes the card/data from the system and the card will no
longer work. And new employees get cards as they join, and someone
enters their info. into the system.
If there are four branches, there are then
four complete, individual, stand-alone systems. All the controls are
separate. The data is separate. Four individuals, one in each facility,
has to handle it all. It all may be duplicated in the main office in
personnel or human resources. This is a choice - they all could be
integrated into a single system and all controlled from one point like
the main office. What would make this possible? A network.
A
WAN (wide area network) along with LANs (local area networks) with
everything tied together. How is it all transmitted and controlled? Over
telephone lines. By computer. If and when they add CCTV cameras these,
too, could all be viewed, recorded, etc., in all four branches, at the
same time, locally viewed and remotely viewed, providing for both
security and management functions. And sharing data, transactions,
databases, etc., is also now feasible with networks in place and this
would multiply the benefits several times over.
This is how and why Greystone Systems offers the
various systems and services that it does. One system and method feeds
upon the other, and they work together, efficiently, smoothly,
productively. And this is why access control and CCTV and telephones and
networks and security go hand in hand, when at first glance they may
appear to be quite separate and distinct product or service areas - they
can be. They shouldn't. Integration is the way. Greystone Systems does
it all.
